Every builder says they can handle anything. Most mean the straightforward stuff, a flat block, easy access, a simple brief. Hannon Constructions built its reputation on a different kind of home build, the ones with a steep site, a heritage constraint, an awkward structural problem, or a brief that needed real thought before the first nail went in.
We are not interested in being the fastest or the cheapest. We are interested in being the builder people call when everyone else has said no, or said their home project could not be done the way the client wanted. Detailed planning, considered engineering, and a genuine appetite for solving hard problems, that is what a complex home build actually requires, and it is what we bring to every one we take on.
We work across the Hawkesbury, Hills District, and wider Sydney basin. If your home project has been knocked back elsewhere, or you just suspect it might be more complicated than the average renovation, talk to us first.
What Drives Us
Steep blocks, retaining walls, unusual cross falls, and restricted access. Sloping sites change everything about how a home is engineered and built, and we design the construction approach around the land rather than forcing a standard build onto it.
Load bearing changes, multi storey additions on older homes, unconventional construction methods. We work closely with structural engineers to solve home structural problems properly rather than around them.
Older homes, council heritage overlays, or properties with existing quirks that need careful integration rather than a one size fits all approach. We work within the constraints, not against them.
Architecturally ambitious briefs that need a builder who understands design intent, not just construction. We translate complex plans into a finished home build that is faithful to the original vision.
Projects that need to be sequenced carefully, around a family living on site, around access restrictions, or around staged council approvals. We plan the build to fit the real world constraints of your home project.
Complex home builds need one point of accountability, not a fragmented process across multiple parties. Ryan is across every detail personally, from the first site assessment through to the final handover.
How It works
Once you get in contact with our team we will ask you to complete an online form which helps us understand your project goals, budget, timeframe, inspiration and overall vision of your project. We organise a phone call – Ryan personally calls you to discuss your project in detail, answer questions, explore ideas and determine the best next steps for your renovation or build.and ensure it aligns with our expertise, values and service area so we can deliver the best possible experience and outcome.
We handle the paperwork From council approvals to engineering sign-offs, we manage the documentation process so you don’t have to. Tara coordinates all scheduling, compliance, and pre-build administration, keeping everything on track before a single nail is driven.
Ryan is on site, every step of the way. We’re not a company that quotes and disappears. Ryan is hands-on throughout the entire build, managing trades, maintaining quality standards, and keeping you updated at every stage. You’ll always know where your project is at.
We’re not done until you’re happy Final walkthrough, defects rectified, and a thorough handover. We don’t consider a job finished until every detail is right. And we’re still contactable after handover, because the relationships we build with clients matter as much as the homes we build for them.
Our Work
Just a small note of appreciation for the work you completed at our home. We have used a number of different tradesmen over the years and you have been by far the best tradesman we have dealt with. Your professionalism, workmanship and communication are second to none.
The project ran flawlessly, and with you being so meticulous with the quality of your work, the end results are amazing. We are extremely pleased with the results and have received numerous compliments.
We found it so much easier to work with a tradesman who kept us informed at every step along the way and completed the work upon the agreed timetable.
We would not think twice about using your services again in the future or recommending your work to our family and friends.
We were referred to Ryan through another tradesman who we knew was a perfectionist so we had every faith that Ryan and his team would be able to deliver the high standards of building and finishes we wanted.
Every step of the way we knew Ryan had our best interests at heart and he often went beyond our brief to ensure he delivered the highest possible quality.
Ryan was able to plan ahead, stay on budget and provide excellent service and advice at all times.
We have no hesitation in recommending Hannon Constructions – in fact we have done it already and would do it again!
We decided to run with a local builder Ryan Hannon from Hannon Constructions to do some renovations to our house. After speaking with Ryan and listing to his ideas and vision my wife and I could not be happier with the end result.
From start to finish nothing was a problem for Ryan and his team, we wanted a few changes along the way, and he went beyond what was required to make sure that the job was finished and completed to a very high standard.
To anyone thinking of contracting Hannon Constructions to Build, Renovate, Fix Up, Change, Alter anything we would recommend them with the utmost confidence that you will get a fantastic job from a very hard working and most importantly honest man who knows his trade extremely well.
We were that happy with the results, we have already contracted Ryan to start a second project at home for us.
Common questions about complex builds
Complexity usually comes down to site conditions, structural requirements, or design ambition. A steep block, a heritage constraint, a multi storey structural addition, or an architecturally driven brief all add a level of planning and risk that a standard home build does not have. If you are not sure whether your project qualifies, talk to us and we will give you an honest answer.
Yes. This is genuinely the kind of home build we want to hear about. A lot of builders avoid complexity because it requires more planning and carries more risk. We have built our reputation on taking these home projects on properly rather than turning them away.
Yes, sloping sites are some of the most common complex builds we take on across the Hawkesbury and Hills District. We assess the cross fall, access, and retaining requirements early so the build is engineered around your specific block rather than treated as a standard flat site.
Often, yes, complexity usually means more engineering, more planning, and sometimes more time on site. We will always give you a clear, honest quote upfront so you understand exactly what you are paying for and why, with no vague allowances hiding the real cost.
It depends entirely on the nature of the complexity, a structurally difficult addition and a heritage constrained renovation will have very different timelines. Ryan will give you a realistic assessment once we understand the specifics of your site and brief.
Yes, complex and architecturally ambitious projects are often where we do our best work alongside a design team. We understand design intent and apply the construction discipline required to deliver it accurately.
